The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. Isaiah 61:1
The Hub: urban ministries is a gospel based non-profit organization that exists to bring hope, love and friendship to the poor through providing resources, conversation and care; always pointing to Jesus as the only source of complete healing and wholeness.

The call of all who believe in Jesus Christ is to take what they know and what they have been taught to the world. It is not an option that we can choose; that is not how God communicated this calling to us. In Matthew 28:19-20, the disciples, this includes us, are commissioned to "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit." These were the last words Jesus spoke before He ascended into the sky. His last words were a command to His people to take His love to the world. Last words are important; they are thought out, and they are meant to be what we remember of that person for the rest of our lives. Jesus commanded, and now we are encouraging to GO.
The Hub was birthed as a result of a deep passion and desire to see the poor and hurting of Shreveport/Bossier come to know the deep and meaningful life found only through Jesus Christ.
Our desire is to see the homeless in Shreveport taken care of. Our end is to love them , feed them and point them in the direction of Jesus Christ, all the while helping them get back on their feet and hopefully into a thriving life. Our passion for the homeless drives everything that we do. In all things, we put God's will for our city first, and then the people. We trust God to show us open doors into the inner city and trust Him in our planning. Our prayer for our inner city is that physical needs are met, people are loved, and that God starts a movement for His glory so that many come to know Him. Inner city work is exciting, interesting always changing and always rewarding. God teaches us so much through the people we serve. The Hub asks volunteers to lay down their assumptions, fears and apprehensions to step into a place where God is moving!!
The Hub exists to connect the local body of Christ to the inner city. This is done through creating events and outreaches to meet the critical and deep needs of those in poverty. When these opportunities are created, we then place people into them to work side by side as a united front to meet needs and to love in the name of Jesus Christ.
We look forward to serving with you and hope to see your face at our next event.
