The Basement, located at 609 Texas St, is The Hub's day shelter in downtown Shreveport. It exists to be a refuge to people from the street, a place where they can come in, relax, watch TV and spend time with people who love them. The Basement also offers showers and laundry facilities to the homeless. In short, The Basement gives people a place to call home.

As people come through the doors and spend time at The Basement we are able as a staff and volunteers to show them the love of Jesus, share our stories, listen to theirs and help them take steps towards a whole life spiritually and physically.

Caleb Carter is The Basement Director. He runs the building and takes care of the people who come in. Caleb does an incredible job of connecting with our people and being a friend to the friendless. If you volunteer, he is who will be guiding you and teaching you how to serve.

We are ALWAYS in need of volunteers! The Basement is a great way to get your feet wet in the inner city. It is a comfortable environment that lends itself to conversations. We need volunteers just like you to come and invest time in our people.

Volunteers are used to help make and serve coffee, stock and organize the supply closet and food pantry, make food bags, help with laundry, play games and have conversations!

We encourage and challenge you to get involved at The Basement. The purpose of the day shelter is not to just provide physical needs, but to give our people a chance to know Jesus and know volunteers like you. We desire for friendships to be fostered there. We hope to see life change happen through the relationships that are built.

We can use volunteers any of these days and times. You do not have to sign up for a set time and do not have to commit to any amount of days. We can use you when you are available! Just let us know through email if you are interested and we will help you get involved!
